There are many StarCraft 2 strategies available to the informed gamer of today. These countless strategies are contained in the many starraft2 strategy guides that are currently available. The purpose of this article is to discuss several StarCraft 2 strategies.
The Zergling rush is a very easy but useful StarCraft 2 strategy. This simple strategy works best when you are engaging either the Protoss or Zerg as your opponents. It should be noted that this strategy does not bode well with Terran though. Terran can easily stop the advances of the Zergling. There are a few different ways that you can employ the Zergling rush. The first method is effective when the player doesn't construct any fresh drones and advances directly for a Spawning Pool. This is a very popular move in one on one play and it is simple to implement.
You will advance the drones that you start with to produce minerals and construct a Spawning Pool with one of the drones. While this is occurring you can access a drone or two as well as an overlord. You should have 3 larva available to make 6 Zerglings as soon as the spawning is complete. Once these Zerlings come out you should send them into the opponent's base.
There is a major downside to this strategy since if you do not succeed you will be at a considerable disadvantage. At the very least you should contemplate destroying the majority of the enemy's' unit workers. This strategy is effective but very one dimensional. If the strategy does not work you could lose the game.
I have discovered that this strategy is actually more effective in games where there are 2 people playing against each other. The strategy just does not have the same effectiveness when you are playing as a single player. This is true because the Zerglings can be easily overcome by just one Zealot and a group of Probes. However depending on the number available, 12-14 Zerglings can quite easily be destroyed by a single Zealot along with a large number of Probes.
Regardless of if I am playing alone or with a partner I like to produce the spawning pool early. The next move will be to construct an Overlord and concentrate of building a few more drones. After this is complete you must plan to produce a number of Zerglings and a Queen for your base. Having the Queen is very important because it will give you the flexibility to make more Zerglings. This strategy allows you to send in more Zerglings after your initial wave. This will allow you to deliver a one two punch to your enemy which should completely destroy them.
When you make your initial set of Zerglings you will need to make at least 1 Extractor to start mining for Gas. You should then very quickly get the upgrade for the Zerglings to make them faster. This will serve you well during your second wave so that you can get to the enemy's base at a faster pace. This is also a way for your Zerglings to win the battle of Zerg vs Protoss and the dark templar.
